Enenche levelled the allegation against the artists while addressing the congregation during his church’s Mid-year Worship concert.

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has accused Afrobeats singers of performing songs that lack lyrical substance, calling their renditions “garbage”.
He made this known recently while addressing the congregation during his church’s Mid-year Worship concert.
According to Enenche, the lyrics of Afrobeats musicians are “rubbish”, adding that they influence youths negatively.
He, however, urged gospel artists to continue to release more songs that appeal to young people to counter what he described as the negative effect of Afrobeats on the youth.

Speaking at the event, the clergyman said: “We will organise a Youth Fire Night on 25 September. Prinx Emmanuel and other young music ministers here, clear your calendars for that date.
“It is better to have music that is saying something that youth are hearing than the garbage that worldly musicians sing.
“Most of those Afrobeats are just saying rubbish. Smoking Indian hemp while they are singing and influencing the youths in negative ways.
“By the time you have a positive replacement for such garbage, then your life cannot follow such a direction.
“And I trust that in time to come, more of this [energetic gospel] music will be very word-loaded to disciple you, show you steps to take, how to stay away from negative friends, how to make the right decisions, and so on.”
