Arsenal did not provide any reason for the Ghanaian’s absence but have said: “We expect Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey to join us next week.”

Apart from Smith Rowe and Partey, others who did not make the trip are Nicolas Pepe, Cedric Soares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, who were all on loan last season.

Also missing from Mikel Arteta’s squad to America are Nuno Tavares and Reiss Nelson.
