The Ondo State Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Sanitation, Hon. Ayodele Akande, has described the Owena Dam Reticulation Project as a transformative intervention that will significantly boost water supply to Akure and adjoining communities, enhance public health, and promote social well-being.
Akande made this known when he received the management team of Wema Bank PLC who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Akure on Tuesday.
While expressing appreciation to the delegation for the visit, the Commissioner commended the bank’s initiative and reaffirmed the Ondo State Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote access to clean and safe water across the state.
He highlighted the strides recorded in the water sector under his leadership, particularly through KÁMOMI ÌRÒRÙN, an initiative designed to reinforce Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s OUR EASE Agenda aimed at making life easier for residents by ensuring sustainable water supply, improved sanitation, and better hygiene practices.
Akande noted that ongoing projects like the Owena Dam Reticulation Scheme will not only address perennial water shortages but also stimulate economic growth and enhance the living standards of the people.
In his remarks, the Wema Bank team leader said the visit was to explore areas of mutual collaboration with the Ministry.
He commended the Commissioner for his visionary leadership and assured that Wema Bank would continue to support development initiatives that improve community welfare.
The visit was rounded off with the presentation of a special artwork to Hon. Akande by the Wema Bank team as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation.
