#OsunDecides2022: Adeleke casts vote, hails INEC

Adeleke and the Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola, are going head-to-head in the election that is expected to be close.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, has cast his vote in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

He cast his ballot at a polling unit 9 on Ward 2 in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.

Adeleke who arrived at his polling unit in Abogunde/Sagba Ede North about 8:46am was accredited by the electoral officials on duty at about 8:50am after which he voted about two minutes later.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, the PDP governorship candidate commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efforts.

According to Adeleke, everything is going on well and that has been the situation from the information he has gotten from other voting areas.

Adeleke ran for Osun state governorship election in 2018 under the PDP against Oyetola. He won at the first ballot, but the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and a rerun slated on 27 September 2018. The candidate of the APC Oyetola was declared winner after the run-off. Adeleke protested the result describing the election as a “coup”.

On 22 March 2019 the tribunal sitting in Abuja declared Adeleke the winner of the election. It was upturned at the Appeal Court and affirmed by the Supreme Court.
