Victor Osimhen expressed his appreciation for Galatasaray fans following their 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the highly anticipated Turkish Super Lig Istanbul derby on Saturday. The match, held at the Ulker Stadyumu Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Spor Kompleksi, saw Galatasaray secure an emphatic win despite Osimhen missing the previous game against Gaziantep.
The Nigerian forward, although unable to score in the derby, played a pivotal role by providing the assist for Galatasaray’s second goal. The Lions claimed victory with goals from Gabriel Sara, Dries Mertens, and an own goal from Fenerbahce’s goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic.
After the game, Osimhen took to social media to thank Galatasaray supporters for their unwavering support throughout the intense match.

The Istanbul derby is one of the most famous football rivalries in the world, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce having won a combined 43 Super Lig titles. Last season, Galatasaray won the league with a record-breaking 102 points, narrowly edging out Fenerbahce.
Before Saturday’s match, Galatasaray was five points ahead of Fenerbahce in the standings. The win extended their lead to eight points, dealing a blow to Fenerbahce’s title ambitions.
Osimhen, who recently joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has already made an impact with two crucial assists. He will aim to score his first goal for the club in their upcoming Europa League match against PAOK on Wednesday.
