Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, is a doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League clash at the Diego Maradona Stadium with Liverpool, after picking up an injury in their last Serie A match.

According to Football Italia, Osimhen’s injury was made known to the public in an official statement by Napoli.

The statement read, “Osimhen trained separately from the team due to a muscle problem suffered in the final minutes of Lazio-Napoli.”

The Nigerian is not the only injury concern for his team, Lozano, who was stretched off during Saturday’s match and Diego Demme may also not be available.

“Hirving Lozano also trained separately from the group after undergoing further examination that ruled out facial fractures for the Mexico international. Lozano had been stretched off during Saturday’s match at the Stadio Olimpico. Diego Demme is also not available and trained in the gym today (Monday),” Napoli added.

The Azzurri trained at Castel Volturno on Monday morning following their 2-1 win over Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio on Saturday.

But Osimhen trained separately from the rest of the team due to a muscle issue, which may hinder his participation as  Napoli open their Champions League group stage games campaign against last season’s beaten finalists, Liverpool.

Napoli, who are currently second on the Serie A table, could also see their star striker, Osimhen, miss Saturday’s Serie A fixture against Spezia, if he does not recover on time.

Osimhen could be a big loss for Napoli against Liverpool, if he is unable to play the UCL group game, as Napoli won’t be able to use his pace against the Premier League side’s high defensive line.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals in the opening five Serie A games of the season.
