Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen has praised the backline of the Super Eagles, following the team’s Round of 16 victory against harsh rivals, Cameroon on Saturday at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to the Napoli forward, the likes of Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Zaidu Sanusi and the Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili have been very focused during the competition.
The six players started Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Cameroon, where the team kept a clean sheet.
Two goals from Ademola Lookman in each half, ensured Jose Peseiro’s men qualified for the AFCON last-8 where they will face high flying Angola.

He went on to admit that the Super Eagles are yet to play their best football, but insisted they have a winning mentality and are like a family.
“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” the Series A star said.
He added: “For me we are more like a family than just players. So for me it is important to have this mentality of winning.
“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going.”
