Osimhen claims injury suffered during World Cup play-off against DR Congo is not serious

Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has confirmed that the injury he picked up during the Super Eagles’ FIFA World Cup play-off against DR Congo in Rabat, Morocco, is not a serious one.

​He made this known while providing an update on the injury ahead of his club’s Turkish Super Lig fixture against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.

​The Nigerian international suffered a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo on Sunday and was replaced by Akor Adams in the second half of the encounter.

​The absence of the 26-year-old forward was strongly felt, as the Leopards took control of the game, eventually beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw following 120 minutes.

​Speaking during an interview with A Spor at the airport in Istanbul after the play-off, Osimhen said (via Habersarikirmizi), “My injury is not very serious.”

​The prolific Nigerian forward will now be hoping to recover on time for Galatasaray’s upcoming league match.
