Oshiomhole speaks after Okpebholo’s victory, says ‘What God cannot do does not exist’

Former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has attributed the victory of All Progressives Party (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Monday Okpebholo in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State to God.

The ex-governor, who currently represents Edo North senatorial district in the senate made this known while while addressing journalists in Benin City on Sunday night.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Okpebholo as the winner of Saturday’s Edo gubernatorial poll.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Kuta, said that the APC candidate secured 291,667 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes.

Kuta declared, “That Okpebholo, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elcted.”

Reacting to the victory, Oshiomhole , said “anything that God cannot do does not exist”, stressing that “those with wisdom know that power only resides with God”.

“When some people said the election was do or die, we said no. It is about choice.

“Today, God, by His infinite powers, has decreed that Senator Monday to make up for 8 years of disaster caused by Obaseki and Asue together.”

Meanwhile, Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has hinted that his party, PDP, will “seek resolution for this blatant disregard of law and process” through democratic means.

Speaking in a brief broadcast on Sunday after INEC declared the winner of the election, he said, “In a democracy, there are safeguards for addressing grievances, and we hope that those affected will seek resolution for this blatant disregard of law and process.”
