Orji replies Ikpeazu, urges successor to take responsibility.

Orji also expressed surprise that Ikpeazu criticized him, despite calling out govs who did the same thing.

By Kehinde Okeowo

Former Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji has berated his successor, Okezie Ikpeazu after he alleged that he met the South-East state in a “gloomy” condition.

Orji made his feelings known in a statement issued by his media aide, Ifeanyi Umere.

Prior to this development, Ikpeazu, who is the immediate past governor of Abia State, was quoted to have said the state was in a bad shape when he inherited it.

He also asserted that successors who criticize their predecessors in office are “lazy leaders”.

Reacting to his comments, Orji told Ikpeazu to carry his cross and stop making careless statements about others.

He went on to chide his successor for saying he met Abia in a gloomy state.

He further expressed surprise that Ikpeazu – in one breath – condemned leaders who criticize their predecessors while also criticizing his predecessor.

He also advised him to take responsibility for his actions and inactions while in office, instead of shifting blames to others.

“Ikpeazu should once again carry his cross and take responsibility for his actions and inactions instead of looking for who to blame as governance is not necessarily about making speeches,” Orji said.
