Opposition parties quake in Ondo, as Aiyedatiwa welcomes heavyweights to APC

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is set to receive the symbolic “Instrument of Surrender” from leading figures of the opposition parties, marking a major collapse of rival structures in the state.
Prominent leaders of the PDP, SDP, and Action Alliance (AA) under the banner of Nigeria Workstation are officially defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Akure City Hall on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Among the defectors are Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, the Convener of the Nigeria Workstation, who resigned as the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in April, 2025, High Chief Olutope Adebambo, ex-Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government and SDP stalwart.
Others are Chief (Mrs) Rachael Ajayi, 2020 SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate; Hon. Blessing Ologun, former PDP Treasurer; and Hon. Omotayo Obolo (aka Mitchel), former aide to ex-Governor Mimiko.
APC State Chairman in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and members of the State Executive Committee will be on hand to receive these high-profile politicians.
According to a statement signed by High Chief Olutope Adebambo, Director of Mobilisation for Nigeria Workstation, the move signals a united front for growth and stability under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
The event will further consolidate APC’s dominance in Ondo politics and signal a significant weakening of opposition structures across the state.
