Political analysts observing the gubernatorial Elections in Ondo state foresee an eventual run-off as one candidate may not have the spread to be elected governor.
Veteran Journalists Godwin Etakibuebu and Achike Ude were of the view that the three candidates in separate strongholds may not have the numbers to win the election outrightly, as a result, may lead to one of them being eliminated.
In the event one of them is dropped, Etakibuebu said the party whose candidate was eliminated would become the beautiful bride for other parties to court.
Achike Ude however said the election results is expected to be too close and a run-off should not be wished away.
“I say this because a lot has changed in the political landscape of Ondo state over the years.If the ZLP candidate holds his zone well and same goes for APC and PDP candidates, INEC would have to upgrade two parties with the highest votes and drop the candidate with the least votes.
The beautiful bride Etakibuebu suggested may be the ZLP candidate Agboola Ajayi.According to him, “I see the elections declared inconclusive and may go into a run-off, in that case, a candidate must emerge. We have seen it before in some states.
He said Agboola Ajayi should prepare himself for negotiations should the Election becomes inconclusive and the need for a run-off arises.
‘ It appears each candidate have commanding advantage in his zone, unfortunately, some candidates would go into a run off, while the other would be dropped, I foresee a run off, I might be wrong’
