The Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, has commended the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo, for its facilities, clean environment and quality healthcare delivery.

Fasoranti, a consultant family physician, gave the commendation during an unscheduled visit to the hospital on Tuesday, describing the institution as one of the state’s “unspoken secrets of success”.

Received by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Michael Olumide Gbala, and members of the management team, the SSG said his professional background and responsibilities in government informed his decision to assess healthcare delivery at the facility firsthand.

He expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s environment, organisation and patient turnout, commending Gbala and his team for their commitment to service delivery and patient care.

Fasoranti also praised Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and support for the state’s health sector, noting the importance of sustained investment in improving access to quality medical services.

He assured the hospital management that he would convey his observations to the governor and relevant authorities.

In his response, Gbala thanked the SSG for the visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing compassionate, professional and quality healthcare to residents of Ondo State and beyond.

He also commended Aiyedatiwa for improving staff welfare and investing in the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capacity.

During the visit, Fasoranti toured departments, clinics and specialised units to assess their operations and the services provided to patients, including mothers, newborns and children.

The hospital management said it remained committed to strengthening its services and improving patient outcomes.
