Nigerian movie star and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has promised to donate all proceeds from the final movie she made with her late friend and colleague, Alexx Ekubo, to his family.
She made the pledge in a recent Instagram post while announcing the release of the film, shortly after the thespian was buried on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State.
Ekubo’s funeral followed a wake-keep in Lagos, which was attended by family, friends, and a host of Nollywood stars and other celebrities.
A wide circle of colleagues and high-profile friends—including Oboli, Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, E-Money, and Yomi Casual—also joined the late actor’s family to pay their respects in his home state.
Following the conclusion of the burial ceremony, Oboli took to her verified handle to share a heartfelt tribute and emotional farewell, thanking God for Ekubo’s life and legacy.
The 48-year-old disclosed that their film, The First Lady, has now been released in full on her YouTube channel, Omoni Oboli TV.

She also encouraged fans to watch, share, and support the project in memory of the late actor, noting that all earnings and donations will be directed entirely to his family.
