Omokri warns against ethnicising Mmesoma’s JAMB result  controversy

Omokri said the issue was a technical one and advised against innuendoes that would further divide Nigeria

Social media influencer and human rights activist, Reno Omokri has advised Nigerians not to whip up ethnic sentiments in the controversy surrounding the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result of Anambra schoolgirl, Ejikeme Mmesoma.

Omokri made this known via a social media post, where he noted that the controversy is not needed given how divided Nigerians are after the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the situation was more of a technical issue; hence innuendo that would divide Nigeria further should not be allowed to take centre stage while contributing to the saga.

He went on to plead with those who are suspecting foul play in the matter to wait for the outcome of the investigation of the panel set up by the Anambra State government and not rely on unverified social media posts.

Speaking via his official Twitter handle, he wrote: “The JAMB has given its verdict. If anyone has concrete evidence that they are lying or targeting any group of Nigerians, then come out with concrete proof, not innuendo. Whipping up ethnic and religious sentiments over a purely technical matter will not help anyone.

“Nigeria is already deeply divided from the #NigerianElections2023. There is no need to raise innuendo that will further divide the country. Rather than speculating or making this about ethnicity and bias against certain parts of Nigeria, why not hold your peace until the investigative panel set up by the Anambra State Government establishes the facts?

“And perhaps the Anambra State government and non-governmental bodies concerned should have FIRST verified from the JAMB DIRECTLY by writing them a letter before relying on social media reports.”
