Omo-Agege added that the supporters of Governor Oborevwori are spreading false rumours about the NDC primaries because they are afraid of what he can do during the Delta governorship race.

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has revealed that he will be backing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2027 presidential election.

He made this known on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on the Arise Television programme, ‘The Morning Show’.

According to Omo-Agege, his decision to back the former Anambra State governor is born out of the fact that he is now a member of the NDC and is a loyal party man.

He went on to recall how he supported President Bola Tinubu when he was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that he would replicate that same dedication as a member of the NDC.

Speaking during the interview, Omo-Agege said: “Peter Obi is my presidential candidate for 2027; I have endorsed him. I’m a political animal, and when I was in the APC I gave my all. Now that I’m in the NDC, take it to the bank that my loyalty to the party stands.”

He also dismissed claims that he lost the NDC senatorial primary for Delta Central, insisting that he emerged victorious in the exercise.

He ridiculed the suggestions, saying there was no dispute over the outcome of the primary election.

“If you believe that I lost a primary in the NDC, then I have a plot of land to sell to you in the middle of the Atlantic.”

The former lawmaker further asserted that he won the primary election across all eight local government areas in the senatorial district and expressed confidence that the party would formally confirm the result.

“I won the primaries of the NDC totally—as in, all eight local government areas. I don’t think there’s any disputing that now. You can take it to the bank that I have won that primary, 100 per cent,” he added.

Omo-Agege also noted that the supporters of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who are afraid of what he can do during the 2027 governorship election, are the ones spreading false rumours about the NDC primaries in Delta.

“Sheriff’s e-rats are afraid of me, and they are scared of what I will do to them at the elections,” he alleged.

The NDC chieftain also disclosed that although he and his supporters were in possession of the primary results, they had refrained from releasing them publicly, in line with directives from the party leadership.
