Oluyede argued that the APC thought the PDP was dead in the state, but the opposition party has shown that it exists as a “cohesive force”.

The Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, has claimed that the incumbent governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji, would have lost the upcoming guber election to himself due to his poor performance, “even if there were no alternative”.

He made this known on Saturday while appearing as a guest on a programme on Arise Television.

According to Oluyede, Oyebanji, who is the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, has left the state in disarray.

While noting that the APC is torn apart in the state following its primaries, the Australia-based medical doctor of over three decades claimed the party conducted the worst primary election in the history of democracy.

Speaking during the interview, Oluyede said: “The APC conducted a bad primary and the party is torn apart. They thought the PDP was dead in the state, but we have shown that we exist as a cohesive force.

“Bearing in mind that the only government that has been able to perform in any shape or form in Ekiti historically has been the PDP, and if we look at the performances of previous governments, this current one is definitely the worst-performing.

“People are tired of an inept and inactive government that hasn’t really done anything for its people, and I’m sure that even if there were no alternative, Governor Oyebanji would still have lost the election to himself.”
