He made the revelation in an interview with talkSPORT yesterday while offering solutions to the club’s current crisis.

The AC Milan striker who left the Gunners in 2018 believes the only way to return to the astonishing 17-year run in the Champions League under legendary manager Arsene Wenger, is to spend big on quality players.

“I think Mikel Arteta has got time to come back in the top four.

“But sometimes the problem, you know, is money plays a huge part in the success also.

“When you see Chelsea after winning the Champions League they spent over £80million on Romelu [Lukaku] to reinforce the forward line and after spending a lot of millions also the year before. He said

He further added: “I think money plays a huge part but that’s the thing with Arsenal, maybe they don’t put as much as their opponents.”

Arsenal, who started the season with three losses, which initially condemned the club to the bottom of the table, has since won three games and drawn one, and they now occupy 11th position on the English Premier League (EPL) table.

The club, however, is far away from UCL positions despite being the biggest spender in EPL during the last transfer window, the money was spent on youth and not experienced players as suggested by the French Striker.

Giroud who played with Mikel Arteta, the Gunners coach under Wenger, on the other hand, helped Chelsea to win UCL last season, before moving to AC Milan where he still enjoys  Champions League football.
