Ace Nigerian rapper and record label owner, Olamide Adedeji, simply known as Olamide, has asserted that Grammy-winning singer and colleague, Ayodeji Balogun, a.k.a. Wizkid, is next to Afrobeats late pioneer, Fela Kuti.

He made this known recently at a press conference in Canada while reminiscing over his multiple collaborations with Wizkid.

While addressing journalists, Olamide said, “I am blessed to have collaborated with Wizkid on multiple occasions. You know Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artist ever after Fela.”

He went on to emphasize that his collaboration with Wizkid was beyond leverage, stressing that it had more to do with their musical harmony.

Olamide’s assertion follows a similar claim made by another Nigerian star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, who had previously declared himself the greatest African artist after Fela.

Speaking during a recent livestream with popular Australian streamer, Playboymax, the ‘Last Last’ crooner said, “He [Fela Kuti] is the king. He is the only one [African artist] who is greater than me. He is the only one.”

However, Olamide’s claim drew mixed reactions from netizens. While Wizkid fans applauded his statement, Burna Boy’s supporters disagreed and chastised him for making such a divisive comment.
