Okowa thumbs up Police over peace in Delta

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has disclosed that the partnership between the state government and the Nigeria Police has helped in the advancement of peace and development in all sectors of the state.

Okowa disclosed this when he hosted the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training and Development, Mr. Emmanuel Inyang, and other top ranking officers of the the Nigeria Police in Government House, Asaba.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Kingsley Otuaro, said that no meaningful development could be recorded in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony, pledged to sustain the robust relationship with the police in ensuring that prosperity for all Deltans mantra is achieved and sustained.

While describing the relationship between the Delta State Police command and his administration as cordial, the governor promised to continue to his support to enhance the security of lives and property in the state.

He outlined measures on ground by the state government to forestall breakdown of law and order to include, constitution of Peace Building and Advocacy Committee, Delta State Anti-Vandalism Committee, Anti-Cultism law, Waterways and Land Committee as well as the Establishment of the Directorate of Orientation to inculcate the right values in the youths of Delta State.

Okowa, who lauded the DIG for proposing the creation of more police command in the state, emphasised that it would among other things advance security development to the grassroots.

DIG Emmanuel Inyang, had said that the visit was part of tour of the South South states under his supervision, aimed at x-raying the level of performance of the force and ways to enhance surveillance in security.
