It was praises galore as Ogosi Afa Okeagbe Descendant Association in Ondo State offered scholarship support to talented, brilliant but indigent students to encourage them to hold their heads high.
Also empowered by the association are women from Ogosi Afa Okeagbe community by providing cash as grants to support their businesses and livelihoods.
The Chairman of the Association, Bashorun Akinwumi Bada, while speaking at the event which held at Ima Quarters in Afa Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo state said the economic empowerment of the Students and women are a top priority for the association apart from organising USE festival in the community.
According to him, “We believe that when students and women are supported, families flourish, communities grow, and society progresses.
“Education is the most sustainable tool for a prosperous future, and initiatives like this inspire children to understand that education and hard work pay,” he said.
The Chairman charged the beneficiaries to dream big, work hard, and never let anyone dim their light as they are capable of achieving anything they set their mind to do.
“What we are doing now is to embark more on empowering women and students as it would go a long way in eradicating poverty and social ills.
Bada however called on sons and daughters of Ogosi Afa Okeagbe Community both at home and in diaspora to come together in the spirit of love and unity to key into the mission and vision of the association so as to mould a better society.
“We must come together in the spirit of love and unity to mould a better society, and we believe many of us share this philosophy,” he said
Bada described the programme as an expression of the Ogosi Afa Okeagbe Community spirit: “We are known for standing in the gap for their brothers and sisters. This is what we are known for, and this is what brought us to where we are today.
He therefore urged members of the association to keep up with the spirit and pleaded for moral and financial support for the organisers to move to a higher height. “With the little they have, they were able to embark on this programme. It’s a wonderful thing. I felt touched with the empowerment programme”.
