Obi tells Tinubu, ‘Wake up from your bed’ after bandits murdered two Ekiti monarchs

Obi also urged Nigerians to speak up about the worsening state of securityas they might fall victim soon

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi has reacted to the murder of two Ekiti monarchs by bandits on Monday.

Taking to his X page, formerly Twitter, he said he is saddened by the incident and called on President Bola Tinubu to wake up to his responsibility and tackle the ravaging security situation in the country. 

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, from Ikole-Ekiti local government area and Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola of Oye local government area, were attacked and killed by gunmen suspected bandits while returning from a security meeting in Irele-Ekiti.

The story also revealed that three kings were travelling along the Oke-Ako Road, Ikole local government area when they were attacked by the gunmen. However, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba escaped death by the whiskers.

Speaking on the gruesome murder of the two monarchs after the incident,  Peter Obi, advised the president to “wake up from his sleeping bed” and tackle the security problems.

The former Anambra State governor also urged Nigerians to speak up about  the worsening state of security, saying they might fall victim soon.

Obi tweeted, “We are saddened by the report that Elesun of Esun Ekiti and Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti were murdered earlier today, cause of death: Insecurity and Tinubu.

“We call on Tinubu to wake up from his sleeping bed and save Nigeria from total collapse. Don’t speak up today. Tomorrow, insecurity might consume you or a loved one.”
