Labour Party (LP) candidate in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has lamented the recent kidnap and murder of a 400-level student of biological science, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar.
TheNiche had earlier reported that bandits kidnapped one Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) about two weeks ago.
They, however, killed Nabeeha, who was among the six children abducted along with their father when the family could not come up with the N60 million ransom demanded.
The kidnappers also increased the ransom to N100 million and threatened to kill the remaining five sisters if the money is not paid on time.

Reacting to the development via a series of tweets on his X page, Obi said the tragic killing not only shows how insecurity currently ravages the nation, but also “how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers.”
He went on to say the latest tragedy in Abuja should prick the conscience of leaders to realise their primary duty, which according to the constitution, is to protect the life of every Nigerian citizen.
“The fact that these kidnappings, killings and other reported cases of armed robbery and violent attacks, are now taking place in Abuja, the nation’s capital, is a clear pointer to how insecure the rest of the country now is.
“…I am very concerned about how insecurity has continued to ravage every part of our dear nation,” he tweeted.
The former Anambra State Governor further called on the government and security agencies to put more efforts in ensuring that the remaining members of the family in captivity were released.
He also commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed.
