“The soul of our nation is bleeding. We cannot continue like this. It is time to prioritise the security of lives over infrastructure projects ….
“The number of lives lost in Nigeria now mirrors countries at war, and the death in our own country even happens more often than in countries at war.
Tinubu must now focus on saving lives and not cutting ribbons and headlining ceremonies on front pages” – Obi.

Peter Obi has reminded Bola Tinubu that Nigeria is effectively at war and he should, as the President, prioritise the security of citizens over infrastructure projects which dwell on awarding contracts his officials are eager to emphasise because contacts enrich their private pockets with bribes.
Obi made the call in a statement posted on X following the killing of more than 100 people, including military personnel, in Zamfara State by terrorists.
Also, a new bomb blast in Borno on Wednesday killed four travellers and injured 10 others at Komala village along Maiduguri–Damboa Road.
Obi described the orgy of killings as beyond politics, insisting that the “soul of our nation is bleeding.
“We cannot continue like this. It is time to prioritise the security of lives over infrastructure projects.
“With the brutal killings of over 100 people in Zamfara, including our revered military men, Mr. President, it is time to accept the inevitable truth and act decisively. Nigeria is at war. We can no longer afford the dangerous denial.”
Obi, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, stressed that “The number of lives lost in Nigeria now mirrors countries at war, and the death in our own country even happens more often than in countries at war.”
He reiterated that Tinubu must now focus on saving lives and not “cutting ribbons and headlining ceremonies on front pages.”
