The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has concluded arrangements to partner the KC Gaming Network proponents of the Bet9ja as the title sponsors of the league.

Revealing this after meeting with the management of the company in Lagos, the Chairman of the NWFL, Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyedinma, said all the arrangements have been concluded for signing of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU).

The NFF Board member said: “Discussions have reached the final stage with KC Gaming Network, the owners of Bet9ja, to come into the league as our title sponsors for the NWFL.

“We have been discussing with them, and there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. We are now set to make it public, and the MoU would soon be signed. This is a good thing for our league, and whatever that accrues from the deal will go a long way to reduce the burden of our clubs.

“I want to thank our various clubs for their patience and support; and to the Chairman of the KC Gaming Network, Kunle Soname, for believing in women football in the country.”

Soname described the Nigeria women football teams as the most successful among all the national football teams in the country.

“Our girls have been the most successful among all our national teams.

“They have been to the entire FIFA Women World Cup from inception in 1991 to date; they once played up to the quarterfinals in U.S.A. 1999.

“They have been to virtually all the Olympic Games, save the last one in London which they missed. They have dominated the African scene till date, winning the Africa Women’s Championships seven times. The age grade teams are not doing badly, with the U-20 girls playing the FIFA World Cup finals twice.

“This is no mean achievement, and we felt that the best thing we can do as an organisation is to support the league that has been producing these players that have been positively projecting the image of this country.

“This is our little way of giving back to the society and also ensuring that the girls are further empowered through the game of football,” he added.

He further revealed that signing of the agreement would be in a matter of days, after all the paper work must have been completed.
