The Nwakanma Njoku-Ukonu family of Okwuato Mbaise has announced that their late son Chukwuma Nwakanma, a senior reporter of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Umuahia, Abia State, would be buried on Wednesday, December 27.
Mr Nwakanma died at the Federal Medical Center in Umuahia, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
Announcing burial plans, the family said, “He was a proud alumnus of the Mbaise Secondary School (MSS), he studied Communication at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, and interned as a reporter at the News Desk of the Vanguard, from which he moved on to Television.

“C.K. Nwakanma was until his death, a Senior Reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Umuahia. His final earthly remains will be interred in his family’s burial lot, in the Nwakanma Compound in Mbaise, after a noon mass at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Umuhu Okwuato.
“Chukwuma Nwakanma was preceded in death by his father, Mathew Oparaocha Nwakanma, and is survived, and mourned by his mother, Agatha, his widow Ijeoma, daughters Adannia and Ihuoma, and son, Leslie; and siblings, including his elder brother, Professor Obi Nwakanma, columnist of the ‘Orbit’ on the Sunday Vanguard, and numerous cousins, and an uncle.”
The family added that he would be much missed by his “numerous friends for his clubbable and distinctly extroverted nature, and his generosity.”
