Sarki also alleged that Obi travelled all the way to Rome for a burial he wasn’t even invited.

A popular Northern youth, known on X as Sarki, has said the absence of 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi at the burial of late ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, will affect his chances of becoming the president in 2027.
The social media influencer made his feelings known in two posts he shared on X during and after the burial ceremony.
This comes as Buhari was given a statewide burial on Tuesday in the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ex-vice presidents Atiku Abubakar and Yemi Osinbajo, and other top dignitaries.
Obi was, however, visibly absent during the ex-President’s funeral in his home town in Daura, Kastina State.
Reacting to the development, Sarki, who is a known critic of Obi questioned the ex-governor’s absence at Buhari’s burial.
He added that his decision to stay away from the funeral will affect his acceptance in Northern Nigeria during the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking via his verified handle on Tuesday he wrote, “Peter Obi didn’t attend President Muhammadu Buhari’s burial. This is the same man who expects northerners to hand over Nigeria to him.
“Let’s see how he plans to become president without our votes.”

In a follow-up tweet on Wednesday, Sarki added, “Peter Obi travelled all the way to Rome for a burial he wasn’t even invited to and was reportedly denied entry at the gate. But he was nowhere to be found in Daura.
“Attendance taken. History won’t forget.”
After the posts surfaced on the internet, they elicited mixed reactions, while some Nigerians agreed with Sarki others disagreed.
An X user identified as @Chuka_fact wrote, “That was a huge mistake. I just don’t think Peter is fit to be leader of the coalition”
Another X user, @oluwaseundsp wrote, “He will be there before the end of the week just to make the whole thing about himself, that’s the kind of person he is. He will like to make the visit about himself and his political agenda.”
However, @waxdigitals disagreed, saying, “He’s not obligated to attend. Respect isn’t red measured by presence at a burial, especially when schedules and principles are involved.
“Let’s stop making everything about tribal politics. Leadership isn’t about who shows up at a funeral — it’s about who shows up when the people are suffering.”
@eze_jc added, “Does Nigeria belong to Northerners alone?”
While @udeochusp also wrote, “Sarki, we know you people well.
“If PO had attended, you people would still have labeled him a political frustrated jobber and pinned different names on him.
“We know your usual drill.
“Rest abeg.”
