Nollywood actresses Nkechi Blessing and Foluke Daramola have waded into the controversy surrounding a leaked voice note in which Toyin Abraham was alleged to have participated in the castigation of her colleague, Funke Akindele, while defending the former.
On October 14, 2026, an 11-to-12-minute private phone conversation between Toyin Abraham and a TikTok fan identified as Bisgold surfaced online after blogger Esther Aboderin, aka Esabod, released it.
The audio, conducted largely in Yoruba and Pidgin English, features Bisgold directing heavy insults at actress Funke Akindele.
Rather than shutting down the conversation—which also touched on actress Iyabo Ojo and her personal experience with pregnancy loss—Toyin Abraham was heard laughing.
Following the leakage of the recorded private conversation, many netizens took to various social media platforms to call out the actress for her indiscretion.
However, in a video posted to her Instagram on Friday, 16 October 2026, Nkechi Blessing made it clear she had initially planned to stay out of the drama, but had to wade in because of her closeness to the people involved.
Addressing three distinct issues in her lengthy clip, she first turned her attention to those she described as “anti-Toyin” voices, warning them bluntly that she would not tolerate attacks on people she cares about.
The thespian, however, acknowledged that Toyin Abraham herself needs to draw clearer lines with her fanbase.
”I think it’s high time you start setting boundaries between how you relate with your fans,” Nkechi said, adding that she had spoken to Toyin about this directly.

She went on to speak on the broader toxic fan rivalry that pits Nollywood actresses against one another, questioning why supporters feel they must choose sides.
According to her, there is nothing stopping them from appreciating Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, Foluke Daramola, Mercy Aigbe, and Nkechi herself all at once.
The actress recalled an incident where a fan slid into her DMs claiming one of her posts was a dig at another actress, arguing that the same fan likely carried the same mischief in the opposite direction.
”For how long? You guys need to stop. These are women who are hardworking, putting everything into making you guys entertained,” she added.
She further noted that it was clear the person who leaked Toyin’s voice note was given access and trust, but decided to betray it.
”What kind of explanation are you going to give to Auntie Toyin that made you record that call?” she asked pointedly, adding that anyone who ever does something similar to her will face serious consequences.
The movie star rounded off by urging fans to redirect their energy towards supporting Nigerian cinema, listing upcoming December releases.
On her part, Foluke Daramola took to social media and shared a warm defence of Toyin, framing the actress as someone incapable of two-faced behaviour.
She also pointed to Toyin’s generous spirit as proof of her character, even recounting a lighthearted personal anecdote about her daughter.
She wrote: “Oluwatoyin. Is there anything that she can say behind your back and she won’t say in front of you? 🤔 I doubt that sha. But one thing I will say about her is the wonderful spirit she has. Even with these Gen Zs—the last time I called my daughter and she didn’t pick, I told her I was with Toyin and she called back sharp-sharp! 😄😄 I don’t know how you do it o @toyin_abraham, but you have a wonderful spirit and I bless God for your life. #bestieiscoming.”
