Nigerians mock Buhari, Tinubu over UK medical tourism

-

By Ishaya Ibrahim, News Editor

Nigerians are mocking the president, Muhammadu Buhari, for travelling to the UK for medical tourism at a time doctors in the country are on strike over nonpayment of their entitlements.

Citizens also found it amusing that a leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may also be receiving medical treatment in the UK, abandoning Nigerians without the means to access healthcare in private facilities to their devices.

On Twitter, @firstladyship said: “In Nigeria, what you order and what you could get, are two different things. You have a sound mind like Peter Obi, then you have these fragile grandpas. With Buhari and perhaps Tinubu on the saddle, tell me, how can you move forward in the age of machines, big data, blockchain & AI?”

@ENIBOY said: “On February 28, 2017, Lai Mohammed said Buhari wasn’t sick but only resting in London. Then on March 10, 2017, Buhari returned, saying this was his worst sickness ever.

“On July 31, 2021, Media Aide to Bola Tinubu, Mr. Tunde Rahman, said reports that Tinubu was sick was fake news. He even wrote an article where he narrated how Tinubu was so strong that he painlessly performed the seven-round tawaf (walking in circles around the Kaaba) during the lesser hajj. Only for Tinubu to visit Buhari today holding a walking stick. De ja vu?”

@oluwaloninyo, quoting one Amb Reuben, added: “Buhari is in London hospital. Tinubu in London hospital and Nigerian doctors are on strike. The masses that supposed to ask their leaders questions are the ones defending them. What a country.”

@BolanleCole said: “Assuming UK doctors are also on strike like Nigerian doctors! Where will Baba Tinubu and Baba Buhari run to for medical attention?”
