Nigeria picked up the medals after defeating six female wrestlers from tNorth, West and Central African countries

Six female Nigerian wrestlers at the ongoing 13th African Games won gold medals in different categories on Sunday night, making it a clean sweep for Team Nigeria.
Mercy Genesis kick-started the gold medal rush; winning Nigeria’s first wrestling gold medal in the 50kg category.
The Commonwealth and African champion was merciless against Mohamed Nada as she beat the Egyptian 7-0 to claim the gold medal emphatically.
Her brilliant display was followed by Odunayo Adekuroye who defended Zineb Hassoune of Morocco with a pinfal in the final of the 53kg women’s wrestling event.

Similarly, Blessing Oborodudu made Nigeria proud by dispatching her Cameronian opponent, Blandine Nyeh Ngiri 14-4.
African Games debutant, Ogunsanya Christiana also produced à dominant display in the 53kg to outclass her opponent Nogona Bakayoko of Cote D’Ivoire 11-0.
Hannah Reuben added more celebration to the already agog atmosphere after she defeated another Ivorian, Amy Youin.
