NFF finalises arrangements for workshop for intermediaries

All arrangements have been concluded by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for this weekend’s first–ever seminar/workshop for persons interested in working as intermediaries within and around Nigeria football.

NFF’s Transfer Matching System (TMS) Manager, Nasiru Jibril, said that there has been a rush for registration by interested Nigerians as the countdown begins for the two –day workshop.

“We have had an impressive number of interested persons, and the registration is still ongoing. The workshop will now take place at the 3Js Hotel, Utako, Abuja on Friday and Saturday.” The workshop will be conducted by Jibril, who is also NFF’s Club Licensing Manager and personal assistant to the NFF President, and NFF’s Chief Legal Officer, Barrister Okey Obi.

“To be able to work as an intermediary, an individual must generate a written expression of interest to participate in the workshop, must present recognized form of identification, must register and play an active role in the workshop and must present a valid certificate of good character issued by the Nigeria Police not later than three months prior to the workshop,” added Jibril.

In accordance with the definition of officials in point 11 of the definition section of FIFA Statutes 2015; Par. 4 of the definition section of NFF Statutes 2010 and; Article 2, Par. 4 of regulations on working with intermediaries of FIFA and NFF, Board members, Members of Committees, referees and assistant referees, coaches, trainers and other persons responsible for technical, medical and administrative matters in FIFA, Confederations, National Associations, Leagues and Clubs are prohibited from working as intermediaries.

Barrister Obi will deliver a paper titled ‘Regulations on Working with Intermediaries’ while Jibril will speak on ‘New Intermediaries Regulation Tool on TMS’. There will also be syndicate groupings and syndicate sessions.

Participants at the workshop would be provided with materials such FIFA regulations on working with Intermediaries; NFF regulations on working with Intermediaries; FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players; Presentations at the workshop; FIFA Statutes; FIFA Disciplinary Code; FIFA Ethics Code and; NFF Statutes.
