Radio and TV presenter, actor, and comedian Chinedu Ani Emmanuel—popularly known as Nedu Wazobia—has described the nation’s capital, Abuja, as the headquarters of the “Sugar Mummy” industry in Nigeria.
The controversial internet personality made the claim during a recent conversation with fellow content creator Ludahydrate.
Speaking in the now-trending video, Nedu also asserted that the Sugar Mummy sector is currently the biggest industry in the country.
He said: “The Sugar Mummy industry is one of the biggest industries in Nigeria. The headquarters, as far as I am concerned, is here in Abuja.”
Wading into the conversation, Ludahydrate backed Nedu’s claims and blamed the trend on Northern politicians and political appointees.
He noted that these politicians marry a lot of women and bring them to Abuja, only to later divorce some of them.

Tracing the rise of the Sugar Mummy phenomenon in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ludahydrate said: “Why it is rife in Abuja is because Northern men are here, and they have more wives.
“You will see a minister who has about nine wives. Out of those nine, he might divorce three. When he divorces those three, he might give one an estate and another a supermarket as a settlement.
“Imagine a woman who owns a supermarket and perhaps another water company.
“She has kids, but doesn’t have a man in her life. That kind of woman might not want to get married again.
“She will prefer to just have a Sugar Boy.”
