In a bid to improve the standard of officiating as well as increase the number of qualified technical officials participating in the Kwese Premier League and the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Referees’ Council and the Technical Commissioners Association have concluded arrangement to hold a mid-season refresher clinic for their officials.
Disclosing this in Asaba during the just concluded 3rd phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League, President of the NBBF Referees’ Council, Tunde Popoola said the refresher clinic which is expected to hold at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State from July 4 to 7, will avail the technical officials who couldn’t make it at the last clinic an opportunity to update themselves.
Popoola who doubles as an NBBF Board member representing basketball referees added that participants are expected to arrive Ibadan on July 4 and conclude their registration same day while classes will hold on July 5 and 6.
“The mid-season refresher clinic holds at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan from July 4 to 7 and it is strictly for only graded technical officials, that is Referees and Technical Commissioners,” he said.
Meanwhile the 4th phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League shifts to Ibadan and will run from July 6 to 16 inside the Indoor Hall of the Adamasingba Stadium, the NBBF Administrative Secretary, Emmanuel Enejoh stated yesterday.
According to Enejoh, participating teams and technical officials are expected to arrive on July 6 for the technical meeting on July 7 while action resumes on July 8 through to July 15 with July 13 as rest day.
All the 12 teams which participated in Asaba last week are expected to battle for points in Ibadan from where only the top eight teams will proceed to the Final 8 at a yet to be determined venue.
