Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has recorded more than one billion views on YouTube.
The singer’s official channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, has accumulated over 1.014 billion views and 5.24 million subscribers since it was created in 2011.
The achievement coincides with the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, an online prayer and worship programme established by Bassey in 2017.
The initiative, which holds monthly sessions featuring midnight praise, worship and prayers, has attracted participants from Nigeria and several other countries, helping to expand the gospel minister’s international following.
Bassey has gained prominence in the gospel music industry through popular songs such as Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God.
What started as an online worship gathering has since developed into an international Christian movement, drawing thousands of worshippers to its live sessions, while millions more watch the recordings.
The latest YouTube milestone has generated excitement among the singer’s followers, with some fans suggesting that he should consider monetising the growing audience and reach of the online worship programme.
However, Bassey has consistently maintained that the Hallelujah Challenge is primarily an avenue for worship, prayer and spiritual commitment rather than a platform for generating revenue.
