​Nigerian movie star and model Nancy Isime has said money plays a crucial role in relationships and marriages, insisting, “Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme.”

​The Nollywood actress made this known while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast.

​Isime said she does not believe a woman can live a fantastic life if she marries a poor partner.

​While admitting that there could be love without money, she explained that financial pressure can deprive poor couples of the joy of marriage and family.

​Speaking on the show, she said, “Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme, but I don’t believe marrying a poor man can make you happy.”

​Isime added, “When rent is due, school fees can’t be paid, and there is no food in the house, it is difficult to have a fantastic life.

“I am not saying there is no love without money. But love and a fantastic life are not the same.”

​The thespian further advised intending couples to be financially stable to a certain extent before tying the knot and raising children.
