Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry were arrested in October 2023 over alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death

Afrobeats star, Abdulazeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley has reacted after a Lagos court acquitted him of complicity in Mohbad’s death.
TheNiche had earlier reported that a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos acquitted the singer who owned the record label Mohbad was signed to while alive.
Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje ruled that Naira Marley had no case to answer.
The court also freed music promoter, Samson Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde and the late singer’s friend, Owodunni Ibrahim aka Primeboy.
However, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) will prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad shortly before he died.
Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sadiq, will also be prosecuted for reckless and negligent acts contrary to Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The judgement came 18 months after the former Marlian signee died in a mysterious manner.
His demise stirred up controversies on social media after videos of how he was bullied by Naira Marley and associates surfaced.
Following several calls and cries for justice, Marley and Larry were arrested in October 2023 over alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death.
However, in its judgement on Tuesday February 25 2025, the Magistrate acquitted Naira Marley.
Reacting to the verdict in a post he shared on X, Naira Marley expressed gratitude to God for vindicating him.
Sharing a verse from the Holy Quran, he tweeted: “And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, he will be enough for him. (65:3).”.
