Ogogo, who built a celebrated career in the Yoruba arm of Nigeria’s film industry, died on 23 August 2026 after battling cancer.

Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, recently paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Her visit to the family of the late thespian, which took place in Lagos on Sunday, was announced via a post she shared on her official X page.
In the now-trending post, the Minister was seen being received by members of the late actor’s family before signing the condolence register.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, a close colleague of the deceased, was among those present at the residence of the late movie star to receive the minister.

Speaking on the significance of the visit, Musawa described the passing of Ogogo as a monumental loss to Nigeria’s creative community.
She also used the occasion to relay the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as those of her ministry and the Nigerian public, to the grieving family.
Musawa, who displayed photographs taken at the residence of the late movie star during the visit, wrote in her post: “I paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family of the late Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, a renowned and respected figure in Nigeria’s film industry.”
Ogogo, who built a celebrated career in the Yoruba arm of Nigeria’s film industry, died on 23 August 2026 and has since been buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.
