Barring a last minute change in plan, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will meet with the leaders of the Organised Labour on Thursday.

Tinubu will meet with labour leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to further discuss the new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

The meeting, said to be at the instance of the President, will have the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), and Trade Union Congress, (TUC), in attendance, according to reports from Channels Television.

The Nigerian Government and organized labour have been at loggerheads over the implementation of a new minimum wage for workers.

While labour is demanding N250,00, the Nigerian Government had proposed N62,000 as the new national minimum wage.

The proposed meeting is coming  about a month after the President promised to send an Executive Bill to the National Assembly on the minimum wage.

Tinubu made the promise during his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024.
