Mikel Obi warns Argentina ahead of last-8 World Cup clash against Switzerland

​Mikel Obi noted that Switzerland don’t give too many chances away, adding that the match will be a “great watch”.

​Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel John Obi, has warned World Cup champions, Argentina, to be wary of their quarter-final opponents, Switzerland.

​The former Chelsea star issued the warning ahead of the encounter billed for Sunday while speaking on Fox Sports.

​Switzerland booked their place in the World Cup last-8 after eliminating Colombia in the Round of 16, while Argentina sent Egypt packing out of the competition.

​While analysing the upcoming encounter between the two sides, Mikel warned the Lionel Messi-led Argentina about the threat posed by the European side.

​The ex-Nigerian international noted that the Swiss are an awkward team to play against, adding that they are remarkably compact.

​“This Swiss team, every time you watch them, they are a very awkward team to play against; you never know exactly what you’re going to get from them,” Mikel Obi said.

​“But for Argentina, we know what we will get from them. They try to keep the ball and make sure that Messi is the guy to create chances and score the goals. But with this team [Switzerland], you never know.

​“They are so compact, they’re so tight, they don’t give you too many chances. So [the Argentina vs Switzerland match] is going to be a very good game to watch.”
