Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has seemingly made a U-turn after naming north London outfit, Arsenal, as favourites to win the English Premier League (EPL) trophy this season.
He made this known while speaking on the latest edition of the “Obi One Podcast.”

He, however, insisted that there was no way his former club, Chelsea, could challenge for the title with the current set of players in their back line.
”I’ve mentioned it so many times, we [Chelsea] just don’t have good enough defenders,” Mikel said.
The former Nigerian international noted that the defenders at Stamford Bridge, especially the centre-backs, cannot win the team anything.
“We can’t win the Premier League with those centre-backs,” he added.

While discussing Arsenal’s chances of winning the EPL after over 20 years, he argued that their defence is solid.
He also noted that Mikel Arteta’s side possess the best quality of defenders in the league having conceded just three goals after nine games so far this season.
He added that the Gunners have shown how vital defenders are in helping a team win matches.
Mikel said, “Now Arsenal have conceded just three goals in nine games.
“We’ve said it so many times that if anyone can win the Premier League this season, it’s got to be Arsenal. They have the best team and the best squad.”
Arsenal are currently four points clear at the top of the league table. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool—who all suffered defeat over the weekend—are in 9th, 5th, and 7th positions respectively.
