Lionel Messi has set yet another record at the ongoing World Cup after Argentina defeated Jordan 3-1 in their final group fixture, played at the Dallas Stadium.
The South Americans opened the scoring in the 19th minute courtesy of a well-taken free-kick by Giovani Lo Celso.
Lionel Scaloni’s men then doubled their advantage 12 minutes later after Lautaro Martínez scored from the spot, following a penalty awarded through a VAR intervention.
Jordan reduced the deficit in the second half with a superbly worked move finished by Mousa Al-Tamari.

However, Messi came off the bench to make the game safe for the reigning champions with a low free-kick curled around the wall.
With that goal, the Inter Miami forward becomes the first man to score in seven consecutive World Cup games.
The strike, which is his sixth in the competition, also puts him two goals clear of his nearest challengers in the race for the Golden Boot.
Meanwhile, with this latest victory, Argentina maintained their perfect start to the tournament, having already won Group J.
