Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has described Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as an “extremely talented” footballer while responding to recent comments by the Spaniard on the possible winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
The France captain made this known while talking to the editorial director of AS, Jose Felix Diaz, ahead of the Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Yamal had earlier claimed that he and Mbappe are currently the two best players in the world and should be the ones competing for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The Spain international, however, insisted that he is more deserving of the prize than the former Paris Saint-Germain forward.
”I honestly believe there are perhaps only two players who are the best in the world, but I deserve it this year,” the Barca star said during the interview.
However, when asked about Yamal’s comments, Mbappe described the 19-year-old as an extremely talented player and wished him all the best.
He said: “I think he is an extremely talented player.
“I have a feeling he will have a brilliant career. I wish him, his family, and everyone around him all the best.”
