Maritime Police assures safety along Port Corridor amidst dockworkers protest

The Maritime Police Command says it is aware of an ongoing protest staged by aggrieved dockworkers under the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), which commenced from the Tin Can Island Port.
The Maritime Police Command says it has since deployed its personnel to the scene to ensure there is no disruption to economic activities while ensuring protection of lives and safeguard critical infrastructure. as well as maintaining law and order.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba appealed to all parties involved to exercise restraint and seek amicable resolutions through dialogue and other peaceful means while reassuring stakeholders and other port users to go about their daily activities as the command will continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent breakdown of law and order.
