Italian tactician, Enzo Maresca has insisted that his team, Chelsea are not ready for the Premier League title race this season despite being the only top four side with a favourable result over the weekend.

The Blues’ gaffer made this known after Chelsea defeated Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday night.

Two goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson gave them the win over their London rivals at Stamford Bridge.

Prior to the win, other top 4 contenders  such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City dropped points after failing to win their matches.

While English Premier League (EPL) leaders, Liverpool played 2-2 with visiting Fulham, Arsenal drew 0-0 with Everton, while champions, Man City lost 2-1 against arch-rivals,  Manchester United.

These results gave Chelsea a boost in their Premier League title race as they are now just two points behind Liverpool, although the Reds have a game in hand.

The West Londoners are also 4 points ahead of third place Arsenal and seven points in front of fifth place Man City.

Speaking on the results of the other top EPL after his match with Brentford, Maresca insisted that Chelsea are still not ready to compete for the Premier League title this season.

He, however, added that despite his assertion, he is happy that Chelsea fans can dream about the EPL title once again.

“For me, we are NOT ready.

“You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title… absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. We’re not ready but we are happy the fans can dream,” he said.
