Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has expressed concern over Romeo Lavia, saying the midfielder could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Qarabağ FK in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) group game.
The Belgian, who has struggled with fitness issues since joining the Blues from Southampton, lasted only six minutes during the encounter.
Qarabağ opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Leandro Andrade hammered home after Camilo Durán hit the post.
They then doubled their advantage after Marko Jankovic scored from the penalty spot after Jorrel Hato’s handball.

Chelsea, however, found a way through after the break and levelled the scoreline with goals from Estevão and Alejandro Garnacho.
Speaking to the media after the game in Baku, Maresca expressed his disappointment over the setback.
He went on to say Lavia will undergo further tests to determine the extent of his injury.
“We feel a shame for Romeo Lavia. He’s not able to be fit for a long, long period,” Maresca said.
“We will see now. It’s too early to understand what kind of injury. I think it’s his quad.”
