A physically challenged man from Area 10, Abuja who wheeled himself five kilometres to vote has won many hearts for performing a feat many able-bodied people could not.
The man first wheeled himself to vote on February 16 but couldn’t because the election was rescheduled. He repeated the feat during election day and says he is happy for performing his civic duty.
Although it is not clear the candidate he voted for, many social media users are enchanted with him.
“And this is what democracy is all about,” Senator Ben Murray-Bruce tweeted about the man.
Many said this should encourage many who think their votes do not count.
“We need more citizens like this, those who believe that the system can work or be healed need to be more than those who don’t,” a man said on Twitter.
