Man pleads guilty to exporting 4.40kg cocaine,11.50kg cannabis, remanded until sentencing

A middle aged man Ezeh Alexander Uche who pleaded guilty to four counts charge bordering on export of 4.40 Kilograms of Cocaine and 11.50 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa was on Wednesday remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Centre Ikoyi, Lagos till December 12 for review of facts and sentence.
Ezeh Alexander Uche was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on four counts charge marked FHC/L/30/2025 before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
He was substituted in the charge with one Ekeocha Anayo Nelson who was earlier charged but discharged on Wednesday December 3 upon the application of the prosecutor Mr Abu Ibrahim.
The prosecutor had informed the Court that the application to discharge Ekeocha Anayo Nelson was due to the arrest of the main drug dealer Ezeh Alexander Uche.
After discharging Ekeocha, the prosecutor asked the court to read the substituted charge to Ezeh Alexander Uche for him to take his plea.
P. U.Okenyi Esq.who announced appearance for the defendant did not object.
Subsequently, the four counts charge was read to the defendant and he pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the charge, Ezeh Alexander Uche was said to have on or about November 5, 2024, during the examination of Cargoes to United Kingdom, via Cologne Germany at NAHCO Export Shed, Customs Area, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos procured one Ekeocha to export 4.40 Kilograms of Cocaine, a Narcotic drug concealed in foodstuffs.
The defendant was also said to have on or about November 5th, 2024, during the examination of the Cargoes to the United Kingdom via Cologne, Germany at NAHCO Export Shed, a Customs Area, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja ,Lagos, without lawful authority exported 4.40 Kilograms of Cocaine, a Narcotic drug concealed in foodstuffs.
Furthermore, the defendant was said to have on or about May 12, 2025 during the examination of Cargoes to United Kingdom at NAHCO Export Shed Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos , procured one Olowolehin Sunday Olabode to export 11.50 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a Narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD concealed in packs of Plantain chips.
Ezeh Alexander Uche was further said to have on or about the same date and year, during examination of Cargoes to United Kingdom at NAHCO Export Shed, Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja Lagos , without lawful authority exported 11 . 50 Kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a Narcotic drug similar to Cocaine Heroin and LSD concealed in packs of Plantain chips.
According to the charge, the offences committed by the defendant contravened Section 21 (2)(d) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and punishable under Section 11 (b)of the said Act; Section 20 (1)(a)of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N 30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and punishable under Section 20 (2)(a)of the said Act.
