A husband is on the run after allegedly stabbing his wife to death with a knife in a domestic argument that escalated out of hand to physical altercation.

Josephine Isaac, 36, died after her husband, identified simply as Oju, allegedly stabbed her in the neck and chest multiple times at about 1am on Thursday in Agbure Community, Ogun Waterside.

Then, he reportedly fled the scene, abandoning his wife in a pool of her blood.

The victim was rushed to Ibiade General Hospital by some individuals, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Ogun Police Command spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that the incident was reported to Abigi Divisional Command by the victim’s younger sister, Blessing Isaac.

“On March 6, 2025, at about 9:30am, the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report from the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing,” Odutola said, per Daily Post.

“She narrated that at about 1am, Josephine had a misunderstanding with her husband, identified as Oju (full name yet to be confirmed), who is of Calabar origin.

“The altercation escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.”

Upon receiving the report, Odutola added, detectives visited the scene of the crime to gather evidence and have launched a manhunt for the fleeing husband.

She said the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and preliminary investigations are ongoing.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation.

“Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect and assures the public that no effort will be spared in bringing him to justice.

“We appeal to anyone with useful information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the command’s emergency lines.”

State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo strongly condemned domestic violence, urging couples to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to physical altercation.

He also encouraged victims of domestic abuse to speak up and seek timely intervention from law enforcement agencies and support groups.
