Man arrested for raping 14 year old in Kwara

 Kwara NSCDC arrested a 53-year-old man who lured a 14-year-old girl and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her

Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 53-year-old block moulder, Michael Adebayo, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old daughter of his friend.

According to Daily Trust, the father of the victim and the suspect are said to be acquaintances who had lived in the same neighbourhood.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Kwara state, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the suspect committed the offense in his shop at Ori Oke, Elekoyangan areoffenseorin, the state capitoffenseolabi said the suspect in his confessional statement admitted that the girl used to hawk puff puff, which she usually brought to his shop from where he lured her with N200 to carry out the immoral act.

He said he also confessed to having done it on a few occasions. 

In a related development, the corps also paraded one Tajudeen Hammed, 31, a phone engineer, who also allegedly forcefully slept with a 16-year-old girl.

“In the meantime, the two rape cases have been transferred to the intelligence and investigations department for full-scale investigations after which the suspects will be charged to court,” Babawale said.

Meanwhile, wife of Lagos governor, Mrs Sanwo-Olu recently tasks NURTW officials in the state to ensure they come hard against rape within their area of jurisdiction. 

She said, “We have been moving across the state with this advocacy. This time around we decided that we are coming to meet our brothers and sisters of the NURTW here. This is the first time I am coming here and I am happy to be with you. We are reminding everyone that we should not be involved in domestic violence and sexual violence.

“These are things that are wrong and we should not take them lightly. We must kick these crimes out of Lagos State. When a woman says no, her no should mean no and it must be respected. When you see something, you must say something and do something. You all must be our ambassadors against the menace”
