The Labour Party (LP) Caucus in the Senate has advised the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo to retract the warning he issued to the 2023 LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The lawmakers made their position known in a statement by Senators Victor Umeh, Ireti Kingibe, Ezea Okey and Tony Nwoye, on Saturday in Abuja.
TheNiche had earlier reported that Okpebholo while addressing All Progressives Party (APC) members at a public event on Friday warned Obi against visiting Edo State without getting clearance from him.

The governor added that he cannot guarantee the LP chieftain’s safety if he makes such trips with obtaining permission.
Speaking on the threat to the former Anambra State governor, the LP Senators asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Director General, Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi to take note of the threat.
They added, “Mr Peter Obi is a citizen of Nigeria, and his movement is guaranteed and should not be curtailed by sheer Executive lawlessness and impudence.
“As a champion of democracy, nation-building and sustainable development, Mr Peter Obi deserves protection and support from the law and all who share the vision for a better Nigeria.”
